Your Privacy

This page explains, as plainly as we can manage, what happens to information about you when you read Ousadias. The short version: very little is collected, and none of it is sold, shared for marketing or used to build a profile of you.

Things this site does not do

  • There are no user accounts, logins or comment profiles.
  • No advertising networks run on any page.
  • No analytics package, tracking pixel or session recorder is installed.
  • No social media widgets load in the background.
  • Typefaces and pictures come from our own server rather than from third-party libraries, so opening an article does not send your address to an outside font or image service.

What is processed anyway

Server logs at the hosting provider

Our hosting company keeps brief technical records whenever a page is requested, such as the IP address, the time, the page asked for and the browser type. These exist to keep the service stable and to spot abuse or attacks. The host retains them for a short period and then discards them; we do not combine them with anything else or use them to identify readers.

Your cookie banner choice

When you answer the cookie notice, the answer is written to your own browser's local storage so the banner does not reappear on every page. It stays on your device and is never transmitted to us. The cookie settings page describes how to remove it.

Emails you send us

If you write to write@ousadias.net, we receive your address and whatever you put in the message. We use that solely to answer you. Correspondence is normally deleted within two years, sooner if the conversation is clearly finished, unless we need to keep a message for a legal reason.

Legal footing

Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR, the processing described above rests on legitimate interests: running a secure website and replying to people who contact us. We have weighed those interests against your privacy and kept the data involved to a minimum.

Your rights

You may ask us for a copy of personal data we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or erased, object to its use or ask us to restrict it. Send the request to the address above and we will respond within the time the law allows. If you feel we have mishandled your data, you are entitled to complain to the data-protection authority where you live or work; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner's Office.

Audience

Ousadias is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children, and if we learn that a child has emailed us we will delete the message.

Changes

If our setup changes, for example a new hosting arrangement, this page will be revised and the date below updated. For the broader rules of using the site, see the site terms.
